We had an incredible turnout for our 15th Annual Smart Futures Dinner!

Words really seem inadequate to express our gratitude to everyone who made our 2018 Smart Futures Dinner a memorable, uplifting success. With 300 people in attendance, this event was a testament to the ongoing support from our community for the Club's mission to give the gift of a great future to our young people.

Because of our staff and event committee's hard work, the gym at our Jeffers Unit was completely transformed into a beautiful banquet hall, totally fit for a decadent Olde Richmond Inn dinner and powerful presentations from our speakers!
Guests enjoyed our famous Wine Pull!
Former Club member, Alajah Bell, gave a moving performance of a song from Sister Act
Here at the Club, we love to challenge our youth to take risks, be confident in who they are, and - perhaps the most terrifying - speak in front of huge crowds! Our teens represented Club values in the best way by mingling with dinner guests during the social hour. Scout W., Jada J., and Kaitlyn T. were poised and well-spoken as they gave their presentations at the podium during the dinner. We're so proud of our Club youth!
We had the pleasure of honoring Richmond High School graduate and all-time top scorer of Wright State University's basketball team (men's and women's!), Kim Demmings, who gave a powerful account of her life - from the discouragements and setbacks to the family support and perseverance that led to where she is now as an assistant basketball coach at Wright State.
Keynote Speaker, Dan Dakich, gave a presentation that was entertaining, powerful, and inspiring, recounting his years as a top player for the Hoosiers (plus what went through his head when he had to defend against Michael Jordan!), the hard times he pushed through, and the pay-off of striving to be your best.
On behalf of the youth that benefit from the generous donations of time, money, and effort in support of the Smart Futures Dinner, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for making this year an inspiring success!

Through the Campaign for Tobacco Free-Kids, Kick Butts Day is an incredible, interactive program that educates youth about the costs and dangers of using tobacco. Kids can touch and see real pigs' lungs demonstrating side-by-side the physical effects of tobacco smoke, study quality diagrams that showcase the damages of nicotine and tobacco, and the ever-popular inflatable jousting match with a giant cigarette!

Our chili and Donna’s cornbread won by popular vote! The competition was fierce and there was a ton of delicious recipes, and we are so grateful to all who came out and supported some of the great organizations in our community.

Pro golfer and Alan Pacific Foundation founder Derrick Allen's big heart and great energy provided our Club members with an unforgettable experience! They not only learned basic instructions, they also had an amazing time and learned how golf principles can apply to a joyful, productive life. Thank you, Derrick, for taking the time to impact the lives of our Wayne County youth!
