Amy Cox Named State Youth of the Year
Congratulations to 2013 Boys & Girls Clubs of Wayne County Youth of the Year Amy Cox who was chosen as the State of Indiana Youth of The Year for Boys & Girls Clubs of America. Amy has been coming to the Club since she was six years old. For the past 10 years, the Club has helped shaped Amy into the fine young lady she is today. At an early age, Amy suffered abuse from her father during a summer visit. Upon returning home, Amy acted out negatively toward her family, at school and at the Club, where she spent so many hours. After receiving the professional help she needed to work through her anger issues, Amy saw how the Club was always there for her and wanted to give back. She was active in Keystone Club and volunteering in the community. Amy became a Jr. Staff member is currently a sophomore at Richmond High School. She is on the honor roll and plans to attend college and pursue a career in the medical field. She will compete at the upcoming Regional Youth of the year competition for additional scholarship money and hopes of becoming the first Richmond Regional Finalists. Thank you to the Richmond JCPenney store for making Amy look professional at the competition and supplying her with her business attire.
